khusyuk dalam solat. Do you have it in you?
It is not an easy thing to remain focused in our prayers. Especially when we pray in unfamiliar places during long journeys etc. The fact that we take the time to stop and pray is one thing. Another thing which is of utmost important is the level of khusyukness that we are able to bring ourself to, during our prayers. Or else the prayer would be in vain. Meaningless. We pray and yet we don't pray. Got me? Solat tapi hakikatnya tak solat.
I always remind myself - what is the point of finding the time and place to pray and bersusah payah go to the toilet, take wudhu' -spending more or less 40minutes in the process of performing our prayers -during journeys or events or between lectures/classes- and yet when we are praying we are not khusyuk. We don't try to be khusyuk. We let our minds wander. We don't even feel that Allah is watching us, responding to us. Serves us right, since we are the ones who don't feel as if we are talking to Him, the King of the whole universe. Pointless right? One can argue that people who pray is better than those who don't care to pray at all. Well, to a certain extent, maybe true. But then we always claim that we want to be good servants, we all want to be placed in Jannah. It is not enough to just be better than those who don't pray. We must perform our best in our prayers. Kalau exam orang selalu kata kena perform, right. Samalah juga dalam solat. Mesti perform...
InsyaAllah :)
I still remember how challenging it was to pray during university years...There was only one prayer room for all the Muslim students in the university. A very small one located at the university basement...It was called the quiet room, and it must be shared between sisters and brothers. We, in Cardiff university weren't as lucky as muslim students in Nottingham, Warwick or Leeds university who had a very spacious prayer room. In addition to that(the small size), here, sisters and brothers must use the room alternately within a very short period of time. Let say Zuhur was between 1p.m to 3p.m. Sisters could use the room between 1-2p.m while brothers could use the room from 2p.m up to 3p.m. But people didn't usually follow the already set time. It was usually based on first come first serve. Lunch break was usually for about 1 hour. And in that one hour we would rush to pray and take our lunch.Ok, what I am trying to say is that, it wasn't easy to pray there. You must share, take turn, rush and sometimes sacrifice your lunch - in order to pray. And it would end up into something meaningless if we don't try our best to be khusyuk.Contohnya, you want to meet someone important because you have something to say to him or you need to ask a favour out of him. You rushed and you skipped your meal for fear of being late. And yet when you see him, you say nothing. Isn't it meaningless?
So woe to those who pray.
[But] who are heedless of their prayer -
Those who make show [of their deeds]
And withhold [simple] assistance.
[Al-Ma'un : 4-7]
Wallahua'lam. May Allah guide us always.

tima kasih sbb kongsi pengalaman awk.
bersyukur sungguh di malaysia ni, surau, masjid yg disediakan punya ruang yg sgt selesa utk muslimah mengerjakan solat. kalau kat tmpt yg terhad & krg selesa pun perlu kita jaga khusyuk dlm solat, inikan pulak tmpt yg sgt selesa..
kene practice khusyuk ni..hee in syaa ALLAH.
time kasih lg sekali.
